Actress Mia Farrow's son Thaddeus Wilk Farrow has died from injuries sustained in a car accident in Danbury, Conn., according to news reports.

The Hartford Courant[1] reported that Farrow, 27, was found gravely injured in his car at 12:45 p.m. ET Wednesday suffering from life-threatening injuries. He was taken to Danbury Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:30 p.m., People[2] confirmed with police.

Police told the newspaper there was "no criminal aspect" to the death.

USA TODAY has reached out to Farrow family representatives seeking confirmation.

Thaddeus was a paraplegic a nd polio survivor. Mia Farrow adopted Thaddeus from an orphanage in Calcutta, India, in 1994.  A November 2013 Vanity Fair[3] profile of Mia Farrow and her 14 adopted and biological children described Thaddeus as a car mechanic studying to become a police officer.

The profile explained how Thaddeus had been left in a railway station as a child in Calcutta and forced to crawl on his hands and stubs of legs to beg for food.

Later, at an orphanage, he was chained to a post, and kids would throw rocks at him to prompt the mannish growls he made. When Mia saw him, she says, she had a powerful reaction: "That's my son." 

Thaddeus'  condition improved by the time of the Vanity Fair profile.

Thaddeus walks with crutches or uses a wheelchair. "It was scary to be brought to a world of people whose language I did not understand, with different skin colors."
